Academic Enrichment Program
Newman Primary School operates a BHP funded, Academic Enrichment Program for selected Year 4/5/6 students. This program, which commenced in 2017, is currently conducted by Mrs Alicia Truesdale and is structured as a fulltime classroom. It incorporates Inquiry Based Learning with a strong focus in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The program engages students in 21st Century Learning by integrating, extending and applying their knowledge and understanding in all curriculum areas. It provides opportunities for students to develop: collaborative learning, higher order thinking and problem solving skills; by presenting authentic, real-world situations and then creating working solutions. .
The Academic Enrichment Program is another example of providing a targeted and holistic approach, towards the education of Newman Primary School students.
